Vyas Chhatri
Vyas Chhatri, Dr. K. L. Achalvanshi Colony, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan 345001
Located 6 KMs from the city of Jaisalmer, is the Bada bagh that literally means the big garden, construction of which is credited to Maharawal Jait Singh during 16th century. The garden is famous for a cluster of cenotaphs and chhatries of the erstwhile, Rajputana kings.
A beautiful example of Rajasthani architecture, Vyas Chhatri as the name suggests, is dedicated to sage Vyaas, the writer of the epic Mahabharata. This local version of a cenotaph, is made up of delicate carvings that are a sight to behold.
This is also one of the most scenic spots to catch a sunset in the desert.
This is a specimen of really intricate carvings and delicate designs. It also offers unprecedented views of the sprawling city of Jaisalmer.
