The Archaeological Museum of Milos Cyclades: In Plaka, there is the Archaeological Museum of Milos. The museum is housed in a Neoclassical building of the 1870s and it was designed by E. Ziller. After several renovations, it opened as a museum in 1985. At the entrance of this building, there is a replica of the famous Venus de Milo. The Venus De Milo statue was originally found in Milos by a farmer in 1870. The real Venus de Milo is in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
Inside the museum, you can see prehistoric finds from Pylakopi, sculptures, reliefs, obsidian tools and pieces and inscriptions. You can also find works done by local potters and local painters. It has figurines, statues, anaglyphs, and coins as well. It has archeological findings that date back to the Neolithic Age. The museum also houses a collection of obsidian. Near this museum, you can see the History and Folk Museum of Milos. It is inside a 200-year-old house with two floors and was started in 1967 by the Union of Athenian Miloans. This folk museum traces Miloan life from the 17th century to date.
