Kentucky’s biblically themed attraction featuring a giant replica of Noah’s Ark has been opened to the public today –a date which is said to correspond with the Bible verse Genesis 7:7 when Noah and his family entered the ark.
The 510ft-long, 51ft-high and 85ft-wide Ark Encounter in Williamstown, built according to the full-size dimensions of the ark dictated in the Bible, is described as “the largest timber frame structure in the world” – stretching as long as the size of one and a half American football fields, and standing taller than a modern four-storey house.
The ark has three decks, with dozens of exhibits conveying the biblical story of Noah who was told by God to take two of every animal on Earth and place them inside the ark to save them from a flood that was to destroy mankind.
“Many of the animals that lived during Noah’s lifetime didn’t look much like the animals we see today”, the park’s website says.
The exhibits include replicas of dinosaurs, which scientists believe became extinct nearly 65 millions before mankind – so they technically couldn’t have existed in Noah’s time……………………………………………………………
