Zakynthos Alykes Beach : The area of Alykes Zante (or Alikes) is located 18 km north-west of the capital of Zakynthos and took its name from the salt-pits (alykes in Greek) hidden behind the village of Alykes. Those salt-pits used to be the main source of income and wealth of the islanders. A beautiful sandy beach can be found in Alykes, attracting many visitors for its amazing sand and crystalline waters. The main road passing through the settlement is boarded by a lot of restaurants, bars and tourist shops.
